On Thursday, October 1st, over 150 people gathered at the Harvard Art Museum for this year’s Green Building Showcase hosted by US Green Building Council’s Massachusetts chapter.
What an honor it was to learn that Summer Star Wildlife Sanctuary’s Trailhead House was deemed Green Building Of The Year by USGBC MA. The award went to The Green Engineer, the firm that served as Summer Star’s sustainable design consultant during the building’s design and construction.
Criteria considered by the award panel included:
- The innovation of the entry. Does it break new ground?
- The significance of the entry’s positive impact on the environment, social equity, and the economy. How much overall good does the entry do?
- How replicable the entry is. Can it be used as a model for others?
The entire Summer Star team is humbled by this honor and would like to express our gratitude towards USGBC MA, The Green Engineer, and all of the people working to advance the viability of green buildings everywhere.
